According to
Joystiq.com, Microsoft's Xbox 360 is finally scheduled to receive a firmware update that allows for USB mass storage. At the moment, Xbox owners are required to buy pricey proprietary hard drives to store their DLC, music, movies, and downloaded files. The update is scheduled for Spring 2010, and may pave the way for the rumored "slimming" of the 360 console. With the update, users will be able to download DLC, and full
disk-based-games directly to the USB drive; however, the system will require the disk to be in the console for authentication.
